Point series feature:
Point Series is a bridge game concept where players are measured across several tournaments.
It is a measurement for individual players but as players often play in certain pair combinations the ranking will often be equal for both players in the pair.
The principle is also known from other sports. For instance, in sailing competitions– where the sailors can throw away 1 or 2 results for only – say 5 out of 7 competitions – count.
The point series feature consists of the following elements:
- First, create a new point series which will form the basis for the wanted comparison
- For example to compare
- All or some tournaments over a season
- Pair tournaments
- Individual tournaments
- A number of team tournaments
- All or some tournaments over a season
- For example to compare
- The selected tournaments is added by the created point series – based on the selected assumptions
- Details for how to add the tournaments together are selected
- Details for how to weight a different number of tournaments selected
- Presentation of the point series combined result

How to create point series
Go to “Results” and select “Points Series” in the menu at left to create the basis and assumptions for a point series
The basis for the point series
When creating a “Point Series”, you are asked for some information, see the screenshot at left where a number of Summer tournaments are measured.
“Vacant Score” means the percentage a player is assigned, in case he did not participate in a tournament attached to the Point Series.
“Counting Results” means the maximal number of counting tournament results to build your rank in the point series.
In case a player plays more tournaments (than “counting results”) in the point series, the best results will be taken.
In case a player played fewer tournaments, he will be assigned the “Vacant Score” for the missing ones.
After you have created the Point Series you can click on the tournament on the list to edit the selected parameters

In the following, I have made a test example from some Norwegian tournaments (names removed).
You will notice that in this club, we have many examples of shifting partnerships. Also, some pairs only play in the same constellation.
I have chosen 40% as the “Vacant Score” – and 4 “Counting Results”. Then I have added 6 tournaments to the Point Series.
You could say this is a “tournament within the season”. Who did best overall – when his/hers 4 best results counts?

When you go back to “Results”, and open the Point Series, you will get a panel like shown at right.
Select the relevant point series and you will see the overview shown below.
The coloring of the results means:
Red – The player did not play the required number of tournaments (“Counting Results”) – he/she is assigned the “Vacant Score” you have specified on the “Point Series” on some of the missing tournaments.
Yellow – The player played more than the required number of tournaments – he/she throws the worst ones away.
You will notice that it is never worse to come and play – but then score less than the “Vacant Score” – than to stay away. In that case your result will be thrown away, and one of the previous “Vacant Scores” will be used to form your result.
